It's All About the Consumer

This weeks "Corner" comes from Adrian Orbe, Master of Finance, Tulane University and previously Moody's Investors Service's Alternative Investments group

Since short-term financial plays have been realized, what’s next? To answer this, let’s focus on consumer spending....

I love the StockTwits…

In a perfect world all information would stream from the source and provide instant, real time data on all transactions at once. In the meantime we have StockTwits, which keeps an eye on what the trading population is looking at, talking about and taking a position in.

Dipping a toe into the financial waters...

...as FASBE hits the redo button. While there are solid arguments on both sides for relaxing or not the accounting standard (Steve Forbes will be happy) market liquidity and "fair value" are linked.

Super Values Today

With broad market indexes down 40% from their highs, there should be many stocks that provide reasonable value at a fair price. Using standard metrics for value, Low P/E, Low Debt/Equity and Price to Book around .8, we can create a custom metric to identify companies that are growing in difficult times.....
